Sexual Literacy Regional Trainings
The National Sexuality Resource Center (NSRC) completed its first season of regional trainings on Sexual Literacy this year. Regional Trainings connected students, researchers, academics, and community organizations and delivered invaluable training on sexual literacy and sexuality research!
If you missed us, don't worry. We will do our first ever East Coast Regional Training at the University of Maryland in Fall 2009 and will announce other regional trainings for the 2009-2010 academic year in August 2009.

Jewish Community Center San Francisco
August 11, 2009 6:30-8:30pm
This August, National Sexuality Resource Center's Advisory Board Chair Dr. Pepper Schwartz, author of Prime: Adventures and Advice on Sex, Love, and the Sensual Years will headline at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco's exploration of "Healthy Sexuality, Healthy Body, Healthy Mind." The evening will focus on how sexuality contributes to longevity, love and life for Jewish singles and couples ages 39+.
University of Texas, Austin Sexual Literacy Regional Training
February 26-27, 2009
Over 60 students, faculty, and leaders from community based organizations in Austin attended the first-ever Southwest Regional Training on Sexual Literacy hosted by the Campus Coaltion for Sexual Literacy at University of Texas, Austin and the National Sexuality Resource Center. The training, entitled "Sex in Public: How Sexuality Shapes Experience in the Public Sphere,"
During the two day event, participants learned how to use sexual literacy as a framework for guiding their research or activism, heard plenary lectures by Dr. Christine Williams and Dr. González-López, attended two sessions of student presentations, socialized at an Artist Talk with Heyd Fontenot, and collaborated during workshops led by Heather Corinna of scarleteen.com and UT health educator Guli Fager.

Indiana University, Bloomington Sexual Literacy Regional Training

The NSRC's Campus Coalition for Sexual Literacy at Indiana University sponsored the first midwest regional training at Indiana University home to the Kinsey Institute and the Center for Sexual Health Promotion. The one day event entitled "Transcending Boundaries in Sexuality Research: Bridging Disciplines & Communities" focused on raising awareness of sexual literacy and connecting students, community advocates and sexuality researchers. The event included a workshop on sexual literacy by Christopher White of the NSRC, a seminar on developing media messages and community interventions by Rick Zimmerman of VCU, eight student presentations, and a panel on Sexuality Research and Community Activism with Michael Reece of IU, Christopher Fisher of IU, and community advocate Kathleen Baldwin.
